Prof. Dr. Mathias Niepert

Mathias is a full professor (W3) at the University of Stuttgart and a faculty member of the International Max Planck Research School for Intelligent Systems (IMPRS-IS). He heads the Machine Learning and Simulation Science Lab. His professorship is part of the Cluster of Excellence for the Simulation Sciences (SimTech), the Department of Computer Science, and the ELLIS society. He is also a Chief Scientific Advisor at NEC Laboratories Europe. His group’s research interests include representation learning for structured data, geometric deep learning, probabilistic graphical models, and the intersection of ML and the sciences.

Marimuthu (Mario) Kalimuthu, M.Sc.

Mario is a researcher at the Machine Learning for Simulation Science lab at the University of Stuttgart, working with Prof. Mathias Niepert. His current focus is on developing novel as well as improving existing machine learning methods (mainly, DNNs) for solving Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), and in a broader context, addressing challenging problems in Scientific Machine Learning and Geometric Deep Learning. All in all, he is super excited about Simulations and AI/ML4Science.
